Music and Fashion: End of Summer Songs

So for me summer came  to an end awhile ago. I started back at VCU on August 19th and now Fall has officially started, but that doesn't mean I (and you) can't still savor summer in the form of music. And the summer song or in this case album that's been on repeat for me is Glitterbug by The Wombats!

I've been a fan of The Wombats since high school and when I finally saw that their third album was released I was so excited. And this album didn't disappoint, I really love pretty much all of these songs! They're really catchy and with a little bit of an 80's feel to some of the songs and they just feel like summer! My favorites are definitely Emoticons, Greek Tragedy, and Headspace!

So take a listen and tell me which ones are your faves, and keep scrolling to see three outfits based on the songs Headspace, Greek Tragedy, and Curveballs that are great for summer and the summer to fall transition.

Headspace

Vintage Summer

Headspace is probably my favorite on the album and it feels like a vintage road trip. Now whether you're road-tripping or not you can still look like you are. Even though Fall has officially started, in some places it's still pretty warm so this outfit is perfect. Old school style items like high waisted, lace-up front shorts, a crochet bathing suit top and vintage cameras on a graphic tee all lend that kind of vibe. Even take the vintage feel to your tech with this cassette iPhone case. Put all your trip (or class) essentials in a bright summery backpack and your good to go!

Greek Tragedy

White and gold

The song Greek Tragedy is all about drama. The stage, the lights, romance, all of that! Start with a boldly printed, feminine summer dress (bonus points if it has metallic like the one above), then add a cascading jacket in a similar color. It'll add a little extra something and also be a perfect piece to transition that dress from summer to fall. Dramatic make-up is definitely a must with this look. Whether a smoky eye, a colorful red lip, or a killer cat-eyeliner. Then add some romantic touches like delicate pearls circa old Hollywood, a statement clutch, and some cute sandals that will be great for transitioning from summer to fall as well as  give the perfect balance of dramatic and sweet.

Curveballs

Leather and Mesh

Curveballs is definitely a sexy song, as you could probably tell from the first line. So go for a lot of black and deep, dark colors. Fabrics like leather and mesh are great choices for a look based on this song. A little slit in the skirt shows the perfect amount of skin as does a cut out crop top. A leopard print bag adds some interest to all the solid colors. Some minimalist and sculptural jewelry are the perfect finishing touch to this sultry outfit.

So I hope you guys liked this music and fashion post and I would definitely recommend checking out The Wombats. Also I'm sorry it's been almost a month since I posted, I promise I will be continuing blogging during school even if it's not as much. Anyways, have a great day and I'll talk to ya later!  :)
